Lordsburg Hidalgo County museum

Open from 10am to 2pm from Monday to Friday, this museum is home to many artefacts. Various photographs and equipment that dates back to the later part of 19th century can be seen here as well. Constant donations by residents are helping the museum to add to its growing collection. This is partly operated by volunteers, and is free to visit.

Located at the heart of the bootheel, this museum houses live reptile specimens. These shy creatures are seldom seen in the wild or even in the zoo. Visitors can also buy souvenirs at the gift shop. Enticingly, a visit to the wildlife and botanical garden here is free of charge.

Lordsburg Hidalgo Library

Started in 1936, the original library building is done in Aztec Pueblo style. In fact, this has also been designated as a Historic building on the New Mexico state register of cultural properties. Home to a range of books and volumes, the building in itself has fascinating stories to tell.

This non-profit cooperative art gallery is located at Rodeo. Housed in a historic 1910 building, it offers an exciting display of visual arts. Be it oils, mixed media, jewellery or woodwork, one can get to see something new every time they visit.
